The Weekend Files 6.10.11

Yet another weekend is upon us, and this one promises to be a warm one! If you’re in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and looking for something to do, I’ve got a couple GREAT options for you!

Saturday night in Fort Worth

Rooftop Rock | on the CashAmerica Garage Rooftop

This is going to be a great evening under the stars to raise money for Lena Pope Home’s Chapel Hill Academy. The night will kick off with music from Fort Worth’s own Beat Daddies, and then Bart Crow Band (who I hear is kind of a big deal) will take the stage and get us rockin’ late into the night.  Not only will you be helping raise money for a great cause, you’ll also be getting one heck of a deal for the night out! Tickets are only $25 ($35 day of event/at the door) and in addition to some great music, you get BBQ, beer, wine and a specialty cocktail from Enchanted Rock Vodka (take my word for it, this vodka is gooooooood). You’d be hard pressed to find a better deal for a great night out on the town, with the added bonus of helping some special kiddos. Rooftop Rock is put on by Lena Pope Home’s Young Professional Advocates—a dynamite group who has put an incredible amount of time and work into making this a wonderful event. I hope you’ll join us! Click HERE for more info and to buy tickets.

(full disclosure, I oversee the events for Lena Pope Home!)

 Saturday night in Dallas

Evolution Trip at Liquid Lounge

Now, this one is near and dear to my heart, so if you’re in Dallas and don’t have something to do Saturday night I implore you to get your behind down to the Liquid Lounge in Deep Ellum.  My boyfriend’s band Evolution Trip is making their Dallas debut and I know they would love a great turn out. They put on a great show and I think you’ll be thoroughly entertained.  Added bonus: the $10 cover gets you into both Liquid Lounge AND Curtain Club next door. Rumor has it the headlining band at Curtain Club, The House Harkonnen, is pretty rockin’ so you can check out the EvTrip set at 9:45 and then head next door to check them out.  If you haven’t been down to Deep Ellum in a while, there’s a lot of new life being breathed down there. There are some great restaurants you can check out before, or after, the show and make it an all around great weekend.

And Sunday, it goes without saying I think…we’ll all be glued to the edge of our seats cheering on the Mavs as they try to lock up the NBA Finals and bring home that trophy!

Have a GREAT, music filled, with a side of basketball, weekend!
